{"id":2892,"date":"2008-04-01T21:00:49","date_gmt":"2008-04-02T02:00:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blackhandproductions.com\/?p=2892"},"modified":"2012-02-25T14:06:41","modified_gmt":"2012-02-25T21:06:41","slug":"memphis-trip","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blackhandproductions.com\/?p=2892","title":{"rendered":"Memphis Trip."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"IMG_0732.JPG by bronder, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/bronder\/2381000297\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.staticflickr.com\/2018\/2381000297_555f092609.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0732.JPG\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This past weekend several ladies (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagometsfan.com\/?p=289\">Julie<\/a>, Stacy &amp; Jane) and I headed down to Memphis for MLB&#8217;s annual <a href=\"http:\/\/mlb.mlb.com\/mlb\/events\/civil_rights_game\/y2008\/index.jsp\">Civil Rights Game<\/a> between the New York Mets and the Chicago White Sox. Along the way we managed to eat as unhealthy as humanly possible in such a short span. Jane found us a bar that had $1.50 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yuengling.com\/\">Yuengling<\/a> (Memphis?), we toured <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Graceland\">Graceland<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sun_Studio\">Sun Studio<\/a>, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gibson.com\/\">Gibson<\/a> guitar factory, hung out on <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Beale_Street\">Beale Street<\/a> and saw the Mets beat the White Sox.<\/p>\n<p>A successful weekend.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"IMG_0715.JPG by bronder, on Flickr\" width=\"100\" height=\"75\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Because I&#8217;m into lists, here are the things to note from my trip:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 Case of Yuengling was smuggled out of the South.<\/li>\n<li>Never laugh in the rain or an overly aggressive homeless man may try to assault you.<\/li>\n<li>White people in Memphis DO NOT want you to go to <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?client=safari&amp;rls=en-us&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;oe=UTF-8&amp;um=1&amp;q=wild+bills&amp;near=Memphis,+TN&amp;fb=1&amp;view=text&amp;latlng=35164158,-90004804,2310054838855399570\">Wild Bill&#8217;s<\/a>, including the kid who was our tour guide at Sun Studio.<\/li>\n<li>I prefer Wet Ribs to Dry Ribs and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.corkysbbq.com\/\">Corky&#8217;s<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hogsfly.com\/\">Rendezvous<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Elvis impersonators are creepy.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Unforgettable_Fire\">Unforgettable Fire<\/a> is still the worst U2 album ever.<\/li>\n<li>State Patrolmen treat women much differently than they treat men.<\/li>\n<li>Regardless of what anyone says, there are only 3 ducks at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peabodymemphis.com\/peabody_hotels\/the_peabody_ducks.cfm\">Peabody Hotel<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Sweet Tea might just be the greatest thing ever invented.<\/li>\n<li>There are Mets fans in Arkansas.<\/li>\n<li>There are no speed limits in Missouri nor Arkansas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The rest of the photographs from our trip are on <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Yuengling#History\">research<\/a> after striking Yuengling Gold in Memphis. Most of you know all to well that you can&#8217;t get Yuengling anywhere in Ohio so to find it in Tennessee was a little confusing. I knew there was a brewery in Florida so I assumed it had to come from there. Living in New York City this past year Yuengling was everywhere but since I headed back West in June I haven&#8217;t had it. To then find it $1.50 drafts in Memphis was awesome.
