{"id":5788,"date":"2012-01-30T08:09:25","date_gmt":"2012-01-30T15:09:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blackhandproductions.com\/?p=5788"},"modified":"2012-03-07T13:23:21","modified_gmt":"2012-03-07T20:23:21","slug":"chinese-new-year-parade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blackhandproductions.com\/?p=5788","title":{"rendered":"Chinese New Year Parade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/bronder\/6785042939\/\" title=\"Untitled by bronder, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7164\/6785042939_c812d1113b_z.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" alt=\"\"><\/a><br \/>\nYesterday Julie and I headed down to <a title=\"Wikipedia:  Chinatown (Chicago)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chinatown,_Chicago\">Chinatown<\/a> for the annual <a title=\"Chicago Sun Times:  Chinatown parade celebrates 100th anniversary and new year \" href=\"http:\/\/www.suntimes.com\/10310225-417\/chinatown-parade-celebrates-100th-anniversary-and-new-year.html\">Chinese New Year Parade<\/a> which this year celebrated the 100th anniversary of Chicago&#8217;s Chinatown. We weren&#8217;t sure what to expect but there was a huge crowd with the parade running through the center of Chinatown. The parade kicked off with a large fireworks display and then marching began. There were dragons, floats and high school bands as well all the elementary schools in the area. We managed to get a good spot about halfway down the route and once the parade began there wasn&#8217;t anything keeping the crowd from creeping into the street.
