Devils – Penguins 2006.

Penguins - DevilsPenguins - Devils

On Friday Julie and I beared ridiculous parking protocol to see my Penguins lose to the Devils 5-2. It looked like the night was going to go well for the Penguins when they scored within the first two minutes but it was pretty much downhill from there. We did get to see the Rookie Russian Defector, Evgeni Malkin, score a goal for the Penguins to keep them in the game early in the second period. The turnout for the game was pretty sad with thousands of empty seats. Nothing like Madison Square Garden last year, plus no welcome sign.

The Quays: Standing up for what's right.

So last night Julie and I are at The Quays, the bar around the block, and there’s the usual motley crew of everyman there. Most of the usuals are playing darts and some one happens to play Lynyrd Skynard’s Alabama on the jukebox… One of my least favorite songs of all time. As a matter of honor I always feel obligated to play Neil Young’s Southern Man which is always on the same jukebox. It’s like some law that balances the universe. As an added factor I played Cinnamon Girl which is roughly 10 minutes long…

Wednesday night Julie and I finally went to Barcade to spend all of our quarters in vain trying to defeat the Deathstar. Barcade has about 30 arcade games (all are only $0.25 per play) and even more beer on tap in what looks like and old garage. Julie and I found out the Mario Brothers is much harder to play with a joystick than a controller as we both really didn’t get past the first level. Also, Punchout (minus-Mike Tyson) is just as hard with joystick considering Glass Joe whupped my ass. I did my best work playing Tapper which seems to be a Budweiser promtional game. The idea is your a bar tender and you have to serve drinks before the customers get to the end of the bar or you break a pitcher. My kind of game.

Some other games of note:

Ghost ‘N Goblins, 1943, and the Star Wars game from my childhood.
