2006 Game #1: Akron Vs. Penn State

PSU's Dan ConnorBronder in the Rain.

Yesterday the College Football season offically began across the country, I partook in the festivities in Happy Valley. After a 4 hour drive and a 2 mile hike through mud and rain we made it to the first bar we could find, Bill Pickle’s Tap Room. There we caught some early games on television and warmed our souls with a couple pitchers of beer before heading to the stadium.

Besides the continous rain the game was good and oddly enough there was really no running game by either team. Penn State managed to pull away late in the third quarter for a 34-16 victory. Penn State’s Quarterback Athony Morelli made his collegiate debut yesterday against Akron going 16-of-32 206 yards with three touchdowns.

The photograph above was my view from the game. As you can see it was pretty wet.

Last night we checkout Ted Leo and the Pharmacists at this years River to River Festival. The show was at The South Street Seaport which is like one of those fake old towns that you see, with cobble stone streets and all. The music was good but for no other reason than luck we stood behind all the tall people at the concert.

It was fine until the show started and then the guy in the pink shirt on the left decided to stand directly in front of me. It wouldn’t have been so bad but for the hair. So I bitched a lot during the show and then I noticed what the view would be like from Julie’s spot. As you can see in the second image above it’s worse than mine.

We ended up moving around to the side of the stage where you could actually see the band and then I stopped complaining and we started to make fun hipsters.
