To celebrate Memorial Day we headed to the beach…

The Water Taxi Beach that is. The beach lacked access to water but did have a bar (which is always worth a couple points in my book). I managed to work on my farmers tan as well as my sunglass burn. For some reason the only beer they had was some kind of German beer that didn’t set well in the heat.

To describe the beach properly I only need two words:
1. Concrete
2. Sand

Urban Grilling.

Today was my first attempt at Grilling in New York and I must say it was a moderate success. A ten dollar grill from Rite Aid and some really good steaks from the itailian butcher (meat shop?) around the corner were just the right mix.

This cookout was more of a test run than anything. I can’t really compare it to some of the legendary pork roasts I’ve been a part of but it’s good to get back in the game.

Last night I went to Shea Stadium to see the Mets close out the series 2 games to 1. I also got to see a couple Yankee fans escorted out of the stands after things got interesting. I’m not sure how the guy in the photograph above managed to get that bullhorn through security, but more power to him.

The highlight of the night would have to be seeing my favorite baseball player, Billy Wagner actually win a game. Wagner referring to the fans:

“I was pretty shocked. I don’t know if it was Yankee fans rooting for me. Whatever, it felt pretty good. I wouldn’t say making amends, but I was showing that I’m good enough to go back out there after taking a whipping. I guess I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to do better than I did yesterday.”

Ok, I really don’t have a favorite player.
