My First Game of the Season.

Today I went to my first College Football game of the season, Iowa at Ohio Stadium. The game didn’t really live up to the hype with #21 Iowa getting crushed 31-7 by #8 Ohio State.

And finally: If you’re wondering… yes that is kyle’s mother and grandparents watching him partake in the beer bong.

First Mets Game.

This past Friday I managed to attend my first Mets game, which happened to be a 4-0 Victory over the Atlanta Braves. The game included a two-run home run by Mike Jacobs and a complete game by Pedro Martinez. After the game Pedro had this to say:

“I felt I was needed to give the fans a different look,” Martinez said. “They’ve been supportive of us all year. I wanted to guide my teammates and give them a positive attitude to win a ballgame and change the whole atmosphere we were in. I felt like I had to change the atmosphere and the looks from the fans and the feelings and give them something positive, something to feel good about. It was in my hands to do it, and I wanted to do it.”

This was also my first visit to Shea Stadium, or as some one once called it The Orange and Blue Eyesore.

Side Note: Yours truly also managed to get in a street hockey game with the Fresh Kills team. The team came up a little short, there was a couple impressive goals, one ugly bruise and beer.

In other words: A good time.

Greatest Moment in Bronder Sports History.

Tonight was the First Annual Downtown Kickball All-Star Game between cross town rival leagues; the Downtown Kickball League and the Arena District Kickball League.

The Arena District team came into the game as heavy favorites due to their league’s reputation as a more hard nosed/serious competition. While The Downtown leagues was seen as the disorganized underdog.

The game started off with both teams really feeling each other out and trying to determine weaknesses. The Arena League team scored 3 runs their first inning, while the Downtown League only managed one run. In the second inning we managed to rally and tie the score but a late run by the Arena team put score almost out of reach at 7-3. This is when members of Continental Office team took the field and made a difference.

As the second kicker at the beginning of the 6th inning I kicked to shallow center field and managed a single. A couple kickers later the game was tied 7-7 with yours’ truly scoring. After our third out we managed to hold the Arena team to a quick 3 and out and then we had victory within our grasp. Our first kicker managed a single. With the winning run on second and no outs I utilizing every ounce of kicking power I had left in me to move our runner to third. This of course meant kicking the shit out of the ball but it was some how caught for an out. Due to the length of the kick it gave our runner a chance to tag up and get to third thereby setting up the winning score. Our next kicker pop up a sacrifice kick and victory was ours.
