Today I could not wait any longer and I thought for $5.50 it would be worth buying. So I bought an invite to Gmail. I guess it’s kind of like inviting yourself to the party (or buying your way in the door) but nonetheless I now have a gmail account.

Today the Army introduced the new Army Combat Uniform (ACU). The uniform consists of several changes from the previous ACU:
1. Mandarin collar that can be worn up or down
2. Rank insignia centered on the front of the blouse
3. Velcro for wearing unit patch, skill tabs and recognition devices
4. Zippered front closure
5. Elbow pouch for internal elbow pad inserts
6. Knee pouch for internal knee pad inserts
7. Draw string leg cuff
Commentary:
I assume Velcro is the way to go but the whole uniform looks a little too like much GI Joe Arch Villain: FireFly. Either that or they remind me of something from a James Bond film but either way this is the type of cool uniform the Bad Guys wear. The information I found most interesting was how most of the material is now ‘breathable’ or ‘moisture wicking’. I would have thought those type of garments would have been standard in the Army for quite a while. Or that maybe these materials were developed by the military.
