Brewery Tour & My Thoughts On Baseball.

The Miller Brewery. The Home of Miller High Life.

Yesterday Julie and I headed to our first of two Mets games in Milwaukee. Before catching the game we stopped in at the Miller Brewery for the tour and some free beer. As a connoisseur of the High Life since that day in college when Nick Barbone and I discovered a case of 30 High Life bottles only cost $11 , it was a must do while in Milwaukee. The tour was free and free beer was provided so I highly recommend it to anyone that has the chance.

My Thoughts on Baseball:

David Wright preparing to throw me a baseball.Julie’s new baseball from David Wright and I.

We got to the stadium early and watched batting practice otherwise know as women shouting David Wright’s name in high pitched squeals. I must say if I had a job at this point I’d have a hard time doing it if every morning if 30 young women were yelling my name. But I digress. After batting practice, a particular third baseman for the New York Mets that my girlfriend is in love with threw a ball my way which I promptly handed over to the lady. Now I will say this wasn’t the only ball I caught from Mets players during batting practice but I like to spread the wealth. Now on to my thoughts on Baseball…

First a Baseball game should only last 9 innings. No matter what. Odds are you’ve already crossed the 3 and a half hour point by then so it should be settled by now. I get the exact opposite feeling when a baseball game goes extra innings than I do when a football game goes to overtime. Second, a Baseball game should never consist of 10 pitchers. Why in the world does it take 10 pitchers to finish a game? It only takes 1 first baseman. I’ll give you two at the most, but 5 per side? Each team last night had a pitcher come in for one batter and then leave. This is insane. Why doesn’t anyone question this.

Amongst Other Flaws, Airline Industry Can't Count.

img_1532.jpg

As you well know I despise no organization more than the Airline Industry and their evil ways. My traveling experience has rarely been without incident. I have had bags lost, items destroyed, flights canceled, delayed, rerouted, and even emergency stops in Indiana to empty the shitter and fill the gas tank. I’ve done my time. I’ve have never been reimbursed or compensated in any way. I’ve paid $100 flight-change fees on more than one occasion. In short I hate the Airlines, all of them. So today I read this article about how they don’t even keep track of my delays properly. Then they start talking about how bad it’s already been this summer:

Over all, this could be a dreadful summer to fly. In the first five months of 2007, more than a quarter of all flights within the United States arrived at least 15 minutes late. And more of those flights were delayed for long stretches, an average of 39 percent longer than a year earlier.

Great. So in nearly half a year one fourth of all flights have been delayed. How are these people still in business. If any other Industry couldn’t properly deliver one fourth of their product/service would they still be in business after six months? Especially with no sign of it getting better any time soon. Then there was this warning:

Moreover, in addition to crowded flights, the usual disruptive summer thunderstorms and an overtaxed air traffic control system, travelers could encounter some very grumpy airline employees; after taking big pay cuts and watching airline executives reap some big bonuses, many workers are fed up.

Awesome. In short, don’t fuck with their employees because they’re willing to blow at any minute because they’ve been shit on for far too long. Well, don’t work for such a shitting company that consistently shits on it’s customer. Literally shits on it’s customers.

My shitty experiences are here, here and here.

No War But Class War.

After the Piscioneri wedding we headed down to Columbus for the rest of the weekend which included a night at Char Bar. There was a great turnout considering it was probably the busiest day in Downtown Columbus history (NHL Draft, Gay Pride Parade and ComFest).

Afterwards we headed out and I just so happened to find a placard that read ‘No War But Class War’, as you would assume I had to take it with us. JJ, Nick, Julie and myself proceeded to march down High Street back to Myles’ house while carrying the banner for all to see. One way or another I managed to use the sign to swat a beer bottle to the ground and as soon as the bottle hit everyone within a two block radius hears the distinct sound of a police bullhorn:

“Unless you want to go to jail, you better pick up that bottle”

I of course pick up the bottle, throw it away and we continue on our march. JJ starts singing in Sinatra like tones: There’s No War/But Class War. Nick and I follow suit the whole way back to Myles’ house where JJ and I decide it’s a good idea to plant the sign in Myles’ front yard. No dice. We ended up just leaving it against his front door.
