Beer Hoptacular

Yesterday afternoon I headed to Beer Hoptacular at the Aragon Ballroom. There were over two hundred beers from amongst 30 breweries.  The breweries were mostly from the Midwest but there were also some from each coast (Brooklyn, Sierra Nevada).  I’d say my two favorite beers of the day were Flatlander IPA or Roadhouse Brewery’s Bluebeery Ale.  The beer I liked the least had to be the Imperial IPA King Paddy from the Wild Onion Brewery, to me it tasted like weed.

The only downside was the ‘featured brewery’, was out of their signature beer: Brooklyn Local 1.  I got there an hour into the event and they were already out.

White Sox and Rain at the Cell.

Last night I headed to U.S. Cellular Field for some rain and baseball. The White Sox ended up losing 6-5 to the Angels in a steady drizzle. We watched about 2 innings from our seats and then headed for the Bullpen Bar. Which by the way keeps serving alcohol throughout the entire game. No stopping in the 7th inning. I guess they get away with this by not allowing you to leave with a beer after the 7th inning. The South Side has a good thing going.

Beermen and Rickshaws.

Beerman at wrigley field.A beerman. Wrigley Field.

Yesterday I met up with a friend who was in town for the Cubs – Pirates game at Wrigley Field.  I’m not sure how Dave was able to get tickets but they were probably the best seats I’ve ever had at Wrigley.  Definitely up there with the seats I had at the Dodgers game last year.  Having these seats provided us with the opportunity to see  some of the best beermen in the business.

Now that's a rickshaw.

The Rickshaw business around Wrigleyville is booming.  The bicycle rickshaws, which are much more common, setup shop right outside my house on game days.  today on my walk home I spotted this classic rickshaw.

I’m pretty sure that’s Lebowski looking for a fare.
