The Pledge, History and God.

A Short History of the Pledge of Allegiance:

The Pledge was first published in the September 8th, 1892 issue of The Youth’s Companion having been written by a Socialist Baptist minister Francis Bellamy.

The Pledge of Allegiance as printed in 1892:

I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Changes through the years:

1923: National Flag Conference changed the words “my flag” to “the Flag of the United States of America.”

1954: Congress, after being lobbied by the Knights of Columbus, added the words “under God”.

Commentary:

First why is there a need for a pledge? Second why did Congress have to add ‘Under God” to it anyway’s? It probably had something to do with fighting Godless ‘Communists’ but does it really need to be there? Can’t we pledge allegiance without mentioning your god? We’ll soon find out.

You know what I always say: ‘Real men fight Nazi’s, not Communists.’

The End is Near

You’ve got to be shitting me?

Welcome to Nazi Germany. What the hell is an Indecency Laws?

Who the fuck is the Parents Television Council and what are the doing with America? Their slogan is: Because Our Children Are Watching and now they want to apply fines retroactively for broadcast sins of the past.

Here’s and excerpt:

Bono may have used the F-word as an adjective, but today’s FCC ruling turned it into a verb directed at American families,” council president L. Brent Bozell III said.

Silly Republican's

So let me get this straight Republican’s are calling Spaniards cowards because they are “appeasing” terrorists because the Spanish people failed to re-elect the Conservative Party. I hope this doesn’t mean when George Bush isn’t re-elected America will be full of cowards.

To show how “brave” (brave being the opposite of cowardice) these Republican’s are pushing through legislation to praise the “troops” on the anniversary of the war. Of course this has nothing to do with the election in November as you can tell by this line:

“the United States and the world have been made safer with the removal of Saddam Hussein and his regime from power in Iraq.”

I guess the Spanish Cowardice has nothing to do with the fact that roughly 90% of the Spanish population was against the war and after the Madrid bombing the ruling conservatives tried to pin the attack on the separatist group ETA before the investigation even began.
