Mr. Atlas… Greatest Film Ever.

Mr. Atlas

About a month ago I got one of the best gifts a guy can get. A DVD of the movie Mr. Atlas: Legend… Hero… Friend., I was suprised that such a film would be preserved on DVD for for all to see. Here’s the plot for some of you who are not familar with this masterpiece:

Fantastic adventure abounds in this story about a boy and a god. Danny Nielsen (T.J. Lowther) goes for a stroll one day when he unwittingly falls into a deep hole. Unable to get out, the boy begins to search around and finds himself face-to-face with the Greek god Atlas, the man with the world on his shoulders. Atlas helps Danny to safety, and the two become fast friends. When Danny decides to invite the god to his home as a show of gratitude, Atlas immediately becomes love struck with Danny’s mother. A story of true love, the unbreakable bond of friendship, and family values, Mr. Atlas provides excitement and entertainment for the whole family!

I’ve uploaded some of the film, just enough to wet the appetite of the film connoisseur:

Horse Cops Defend Baseball.

Horse Cops

You might recall my disdain for Horse Cops… well it still grows. Last night we checked out the Mets – Pirates game and on our way into the stadium I saw my mortal enemy: 2 Horse Cops. Thankfully these horse cops weren’t chasing people; as is their habit. There also was no tear gas used on the public which is the Horse Cops weapon of choice.

Onto the game. Which the Mets won 7-5. My favorite player Billy Wagner had a successful outing, Jose Reyes had a stolen base, which I’m told he’s pretty good at. On top of all this we got to see a mullet sitting a couple rows in front of us.

As they say… it was a fun time had by all.

American Day 2006.

NYC Fireworks July 4

As American as it could get we hung out most of the day and watched some American things on Television. What you ask? Well to start we watched the Great American Hope (Joey Chestnut) try to Torpedo Japan’s Kobayashi in Nathan’s Annual Hot Dog Eating Contest. Chestnut put up a hell of a fight but hit the wall with about 7 minutes to go and was passed by Kobayashi. Kobayashi went on to set a new world record by eating 53.75 hot dogs. After this setback of being American we proceeded to grill some hot dogs of our own. Needless to say I won eating contest but I came rather shy of the world record. To make it even more American we managed to roast a couple marshmallows.

Next up for our American viewing enjoyment was the Shuttle Launch. The tv coverage was horrible but can there really be anything more American than shooting 7 people into space on the back of a rocket?

To finish off our Television Independence celebration we passed on watching the World Cup (because that would be very un-American, and Un-American Nik Bronder is not) and instead caught the second have of the Mets victory over the Pirates. As we all know the only thing more American than watching Baseball on tv with a beer is watching Football. Considering it’s early July Baseball will have to do.

We ended the night by watching the New York City Fireworks on top of Alicia’s roof. Beers were drank, (which needed to be open with the help of the wall seen behind me) chips were eaten, and a good ol’ fasion American time was had by all.
