Cubs Vs. Phillies.

Wrigley Field.jpg

On Thursday Julie and I met Dan in the bleachers for the Cub’s – Phillies game.  The Cubs were down for much of the game until  Aramis Ramirez’s grand slam in the eighth inning.  I’ve only sat in the bleachers once before but I was much higher in the stands.  This time we sat with Dan’s friends who get there when they open and have the front row in left field.   Julie had a little issue with security due to the phonetics of her tshirt but other than that it was a good time.

Eddie Vedder at the Auditorium Theatre

Last night I went with Nick, Dom & Kelly to the Eddie Vedder show at Auditorium Theatre.  Nick and I had seats in Row B of the second balconly which basically means in the rafters with a bar directly in front of you at eye level.  After watching most of the opener we headed back down stairs for a drink and then decided to try and stand at the back of the second balconly instead of going back to our seats in row B.  We managed to find a couple of random chairs and hung out there with a much better veiw 20 rows behind where are seats were.  Of course everyone kept asking where we got the chairs and we could only respond that we brought them from home.

The show was great.  I was aware of the douche bag crowds showed up during this tour but I think we probably had one of the better ones.  To kick off the show Eddie started explaining to the crowd how Milwakee was full of assholes and he says something along these lines:

There’s a band called Pearl Jam, I’ve been writing their set lists for about 17 years.  Don’t yell any requests because you guys are fucking amateurs.

Then he went on about how he doesn’t even know the shit he’s going to play tonight.  Which led to covering Hurt by Nine Inch Nails.

Nick and I ended up heading down to the front of the theater for the final encore, hence the good photographs.

Weekend in New York.

IMG_3220.JPG

After another shitty experience with American Airlines I made my 12 hour journey to New York on Friday.  I feel like I acomplished a lot:

  1. Pastries from Gian & Piero Bakery in Astoria.
  2. Multiple rounds of beer at McSorley’s.
  3. A burger at Ted’s.
  4. Wings at Croxley’s.
  5. Picked up a Wii Fit at the Nintendo World Store.

Friday evening I met up with Josh & Emily at the Nintendo Wold Store and then we headed down to McSorley’s where waited for the infamous Jim Wallis to arrive.  Things were a little more low key this time around at McSorley’s but then again everyone’s a year older.  We moved on to the Telephone Bar and then called it a night.

*Side Note:  For those wondering Jim’s black eye did not occur at McSorley’s.
