On to the Ground War.

The last mile has begun. The nation is about as evenly split as exactly four years ago. By all accounts Kerry has made up the ground that was needed. In less than 6 hours he changed the dynamic of what some have said is the most important election of our time.

The Ground War is upon us:
Whom ever can win the turnout battle on November 2nd will be the next president. Polls have begun to show a shift all week and now according to the Scripps Survey Research Center at Ohio University John Kerry leads George Bush 50-45 percent of nation-wide RV’s according to a poll conducted 10/3-13 by.

There are no undecided voters.

What about Poland?

Poland is playing around with the idea of withdrawing from the Coalition of the Willing (US, Briton, Australia, and our friends in Rwanda). Poland would like to see it’s troops out of Iraq by the end of 2005.

That’s what happened to Poland…Damb the Power of the Internet(s)!

It’s not that I’m making fun of Poland just the fact that Poland is considered a “Key Coalition Member”. For christ sake we’re talking about Poland. The same Poland that’s had a bad stretch dating back to September 1939 (as the Stones said: When the Blitzkrieg raged and the bodies stank). I would have to say this Coalition of the Willing is becoming less willing all the time.

Meanwhile Costa Rica is wondering when it became a member of the Coalition of the Willing.

Costa Rica’s highest court ruled that the United States cannot name this pacifist Central American country as one of its coalition partners in Iraq, and the government was preparing a letter yesterday asking Washington to remove it from the list.
The White House Web site still had the country listed yesterday.

The White House response: Remove the page on www.whitehouse.gov that lists non members of the Coalition of the Willing. Too bad they forgot to remove the link to the Press Release that still lists Costa Rica.
Where the hell is Eritrea? When in doubt check the CIA Factbook. When visiting Eritrea beware of locust swarms.

Hey Ladies! Get Funky!

This ain’t your Fathers’ Kingdom. Saudi Arabia announced yesterday due to logistical reasons women will not be allowed to vote in the first Kingdom-wide elections.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said there are not enough women to run women’s-only registration centers and polling stations, and that only a fraction of the country’s women have the photo identity cards that would have been needed to vote.
Many women in Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of Islam, have balked at getting the ID cards — introduced three years ago — because the photographs would show their faces unveiled.

I would have thought they would officially allow women to vote yet since the men don’t let the women outside their turnout would slim.
