After some extensive research this past week I have come up with some interesting facts regarding Georgia’s football program. This research was spawned by my total disdain for the SEC‘s complete lack of traveling outside of the South to play a football game. I don’t understand how a team from the SEC, particularly Georgia, can stake a claim to being one of the best teams in the country without every leaving their region. Historically SEC teams don’t play outside of the South but Georgia takes this even further. In their entire history Georgia has only played 34 regular season games and 1 bowl game outside of the South. Their last game played outside of the South was 43 years ago at Michigan. Let me say that again: 43 years ago.
The Last 5 times Georgia has played a regular season game outside the South:
- 1965 Georgia at Michigan
- 1960 Georgia at Southern California
- 1957 Georgia at Michigan
- 1953 Georgia at Villanova
- 1952 Georgia at Pennsylvania
How is this possible? From this point on I will refer to the Georgia Bulldogs as merely a ‘regional football power’.
My stats were found at NCAA Football History.
And Georgia got smoked by the Mountaineers of the Big East in 2006.
Let me officially say go Buckeyes…its not like I sat in the county courthouse waitin’ on a friend in Baton Rouge.
Heads up- everyone’s #1 preseason team for 2008 is the Bulldogs. And guess what? They play AT Arizona State on 9/20. That’s right. AT.
Still not North of the Mason-Dixon line, but it’s a start.
Maybe the Deep South is just expanding…
They (the south) do sort of have a history of trying to get away with blatantly telling people what to do….without paying them….then berating them……and then hitting them with whips….then sometimes raping them…too far? Im with Bronder, Georgia is clearly TELLING AZ they are now part of the south.
This is not about Georgia….I need to hear more about this iPod HiFi and turntable..thinking about getting one…maybe on the 25th..
We need a friggin’ update! I’m tired of looking at this fu%cking dog…
I’m working on an update for you…

You should come check it out.
For less than $70 I got the Audio Technica AT-PL50 turntable from Amazon. It was simple to setup and it plugged right into my iPod Hifi. I had the Hifi already but any stereo with an AUX input would work. The Hifi is expensive but pretty awesome. I’m pleased with it even though I might be the only one who ever bought one. When we do the planning session for Memphis I’ll show you how it works and I have Springsteen’s Greetings from Asbury Park as a good demo.
And we also have The Band’s Last Waltz on vinyl too!
