A truck driver from New Jersey has disappeared with the contents of his truck, 3.6 million nickels. Angel Ricardo Mendoza was hauling over 45,000 pounds of Nickels to the New Orleans’ for the Federal Reserve. Mendoza never showed up but his truck was found in Fort Pierce, Florida empty. There was no sign of Mendoza or 3.6 million nickel’s he was hauling.
I’m trying to think what one would do with 45,000 pounds of nickels. Would you attempt to ship them out of the country? I have to imagine it would be hard to carry $50 worth of nickels on you at one time. If I had to steal a truck load of coins I would hope it’s not full of nickels. Maybe dimes or quarters but not nickels.
Nobody likes nickels.
