US Cellular Field: White Sox – Yankees.

As you can see from the two photographs above the White Sox were having a hell of a time with the Yankees last night at US Cellular Field.  13 runs in 3 innings is never a good thing.  Julie actually won these tickets in a raffle at Finley Dunnes so I will pretend it didn’t happen.

It was Mayor Daley Night at US Cellular Field which consisted of a commemorative baseball, a small speech and a montage.  The funny part was the baseball wasn’t handed out until you left the park so as to keep people from the throwing the ball at the former mayor.

The White Sox organization thinks of everything.

***** At one point in the game they decided to mix things up to get the Sox back in it and they changed bags at first base. Clearly Adam Dunn was not impressed.

After being on the road for a week it’s back to Chicago Baseball. Last night I witnessed the White Sox get blown out 10-2 by the Red Sox. The game started off quickly with no hits until the 4th inning and then it just blew apart with a series of home runs by the Red Sox. The White Sox began to rally in the 7th and 8th but the Red Sox just destroyed them with 5 runs in the top of the 9th inning.

IMG_0851.jpgAt Schaller's Pump -

**** Before the game Julie and I took an epic bus trip to Schaller’s Pump for a couple pregame drinks. We’ve tried once before to stop there but the bar doesn’t open until 4pm on Saturday’s which makes it a little bit difficult for a 6pm game. So we took the bus and it was worth the ride. Cans of beer run $2.75 nearly as cheap as a Lenten Fish Fry.

Chicago Theater: Eddie Vedder

Last night I went to the Chicago Theater to see Eddie Vedder on his solo tour. The show was good but not nearly as good as the last time around.  I could complain about the beer being split on me, the crazy old lady in my row or the grown men who feel the need to scream in a primal way at a man playing a ukelele but I won’t.  Overall it was solid and it’s always nice to be in the Chicago Theater.  I wonder if when people from other generations go to see their acts in theaters are there still people screaming?  For example Neil Young played at the same venue earlier in the year, were there guys screaming at him during his show?  I just wonder at what age this ends?  Does the experience ever change?
