2nd (semi) Annual Cosby Sweater Party.

IMG_8128.JPGIMG_8187.JPG

Last night Julie and I hosted the 2nd (semi) Annual Cosby Sweater Party. I believe the event was considered very successful; possibly better than the first. At the end of the night we were out of jello-pudding shots, finished off god knows how many PBR’s and went through half a bottle of Singleton. If that is not a successful party I don’t know what is.

Everyone showed up with the required attire creating one of the better concentration of Cosby Sweaters the city of Chicago has ever seen. We managed to watch nearly the entire season 2 of the Cosby Show which taught us many life lessons. Among those lessons would be that Phylicia Rashad was not yet Phylicia Rashad and you should never leave your juicer out.

Thanks to all those who came and demonstrated your Cosby fashion sense. A good time was had by all.

Halligan’s (and a Kyle Orton Sighting)

Friday night amongst may stops that most of the people in these photos don’t remember we met up with the Malibu Girl at Halligan’s. The vast size of the peacock headdress cannot really be explained. It must be witnessed. And for the record the Malibu Girl smelled like baby powder. Not sure why.

After Halligan’s we moved onto to another destination that I can neither name or locate.

Before the night really began Julie and I met up with Emily and headed to Lucky’s for dinner where we saw Kyle Orton. Considering it’s a bye week for the Bears I’m pretty sure it was him.

The Hold Steady at the Metro.

The Hold Steady at the Metro. The Hold Steady at the Metro.

Last night I went with Dom & Kelley and Emily to see The Hold Steady at Metro. Being my first time to the Metro I was surprised by how small the place was. We ended up in the balcony and it felt like we were right on top of the stage. The place was packed but considering it was Halloween the only costumes I saw were on the band. I take that back there was a midget taking tickets at the door that had his face painted.

Towards the end of the show. The Costumes are falling by the wayside.More Hold Steady.More costumes. From my view in the balcony. The Hold Steady in Costume.

We missed the first band but the second opening band, Art Brut, is a stalwart of my annual Top Ten List. ‘The Brut’ (as I like to call them) were decked out and all sorts of costumes that were in many waysappropriate . They also had a running slide show of the lyrics to their songs on the back of the stage which was helpful for those who are new to tidal wave of sound that is Art Brut. If nothing else in went well with the singalong vibe that the crowd was excreting all night.

I missed The Hold Steady at Lollapolloza this past year but I’ve been listening to their albums the last couple of months leading up to this show. My favorite being Almost Killed Me. The band showed up on stage in Pancho Villaesque attire which included ‘bullet belts’, mustaches and cowboy hats. It was pretty bad ass.
