Mo's in town & The real meaning of the iPhone.

Julie Rubinstein, Mo Thompson, Nik Bronder at the Cubby Bear.

Mo was in the Chicago area for the past week for a little bit of a (or maybe a lot) Family Vacation. Before heading out of town she stopped by for dinner and a couple of drinks. We ended up walking to the Goose Island Brewery in Wrigleyville for dinner and then headed to the Cubby Bear for a a couple of drinks. Neither Julie or I have been there and my only comparison would have to be any Choch bar (sp?) in Columbus, Ohio. Take your pick; The Lodge Bar, Frog, Bear & Wild Turd, you get the idea.

The iPhone and its’ real meaning

I got an iPhone the other day to celebrate the end of my unemployment vacation and besides waiting 2 days to receive calls it’s been pretty awesome. I’ve been pointing out to Julie whenever she, I or anyone we’re with has a question that if I had the iPhone we would know. Well that day has come. Below you will see me being proven right (the first of many times to come) with the power of the iPhone. Basically the iPhone’s greatest feature is a it’s quick ability prove anyone wrong, at any time, in any place.

Nik Bronder using is his iPhone to prove people wrong.

iPhone searching…More searching…You can’t argue with the Internet.

* Side Note #1:

Below is the first photo I’ve taken with the iPhone. It’s not great but better than any camera phone photo I’ve ever seen.

The rest of the photographs from the afternoon are on Flickr.

First Pork Loin in 2 Years.

The GrillPork Loin.

Yesterday I decided to perform a test run with regards to grilling a pork loin.  Granted this was probably the first pork loin I’ve grilled in nearly two years I think it came out pretty well.  You can always do better but I think we had the right amount of Sweet Baby Ray’s, maybe the timing was off but all and all it was pretty damn good.

World's Largest Block Party.

Rusted Root still refuses to tour over season.

Yesterday afternoon Julie and I met up with Dom and Kelly at Old St. Pats for the World’s Largest Block Party. Of course the headliner for this even just so happened to be Rusted Root. I tried post the video for Send Me On My Way but of course the record company doesn’t allow that (not to mention I just figured out how to technically do it). But I digress, here’ a link to the video.

The block party setup was pretty good, for $35 you got entry, 5 beers and access to the highest concentration of portable toilets the world has ever seen. The food was good, Rusted Root was fabulous, there was a hint of 1996 in the air. The word on the street was that Rusted Root once made it onto a mix tape created by legendary music critic Myles Tersnak.

Didn’t make the cut.

After seeing Rusted Root up close and personal we headed out to find a bar. The first place we stopped was the photo above. As you can see I’m not really pleased. The reason for my displeasure would be that we didn’t meet the dress code to enter. I must confess that something like this was bound to happen to me sooner rather than later but I didn’t expect it from that guy behind me in the photo.

I didn’t want to drink there anyways so we ended up at Jaks Tap to end the evening. The rest of the photographs are on Flickr.

I couldn’t resist. Here’s a clip of Rusted Root from Bonaroo in 2006.
