Holiday (extended) Weekend.

Bears - Saints at Solider Field.

Julie dresses as a Ninja whenever it’s cold out.Da Bears!Julie and Nik in the cold wondering why we bought these tickets in August.

For our first New Years in Chicago Julie and I headed to the Bears game on Sunday.  When we bought the tickets this summer we assumed this would be at least a decent game.  The game was all but meaningless, No Reggie Bush, No Brian Greise, No Rex Grossman.

Turkey preparation: Cajun Rub.The backyard. The Result.

On New Years day during a 12 hour football watching marathon James engineered one hell of a Turkey Fry.  In less than an hour we had one of the better turkey’s ever tasted.

Giants Stadium: Steelers – Jets.

I got to see the Steelers play the Jets at Giant Stadium on Sunday for only my second NFL game. The tailgating was pretty awesome, the weather was pretty cold, and Steelers offense was pretty bad. Jim Wallis managed to get us hooked up with Sports Vacations who arranged a bus from the hotel the Steelers were staying at to the stadium. We managed to run into Chris Hoke in the elevator (I asked him where the ATM was), see Dick LeBeau in the lobby, and watch Hines Ward get off the elevator on the wrong floor.

NFL Season Opener.

Nik Bronder watching Steelers 2006 Opener Julie Rubinstein and Nik Bronder, Steelers 2006 Opener.

Last night we went to Foley’s New York to catch the Steelers season opener against Miami. At the bar we met up with Mike (one of Julie’s co-workers) and his fellow Pittsburgh fans. The Steelers won so that worked out; the Charlie Batch to Heath Miller connection is alive and well. Besides the crazy painter guy who sat at the bar and tried to convert the Indian next to him to Christianity, it was a good time had by all.
