Bobby Hull at Finley Dunnes

DSC_0012.JPGDSC_0022.JPGDSC_0031.JPG

Last night after the Blackhawks overtime win over the Red Wings Julie got word that Bobby Hull was in the neighborhood at Finley Dunnes. We figured it was worth a trip to see if he was still there.

Finley Dunnes is an official Chicago Blackhawks bar so that’s how the Hull appearance was arranged. Bobby Hull as a ‘Blackhawks Ambassador’ was booked for FD’s. He basically just hung out at a table while people came up to him for an autograph, photograph or just a handshake. My understanding is this was to be a ‘word of mouth’ event so there really wasn’t a crowd, granted it was 10:30pm on a Monday night.

Side Notes:
*At one point when I was taking photographs something funny was said so I started laughing from behind the camera when Hull dropped the following line:

“Don’t you fucking laugh.”

St. Ferdinand Fish Fry.

Last night I made my annual trip to a Fish Fry with Julie and Todd.  This year we once again went to St. Ferdinand which is in Belmont Central.  We  managed to get there early this year so the fish selection was much more varied (I got the perch while Julie and Todd went with the old standby: cod).  The food as always is not something to brag about but then again that’s not why we go.  We go for the atmosphere and the $2 beers.  This year we grabbed a table closest to the ‘bar’ and were rather sure that we were the only ones drinking.  Either way it went well and I’m starting to make a name for myself.

St. Fredinand has a different themed fish fry each Friday night during Lent.  If you are going to make the trip I highly recommend Elvis Night over all the others. We went on ‘Kids Night’ this year due to a scheduling conflict and it wasn’t quite as good as last year.  The entertainment consisted of clowns making balloons, a children’s book fair and 20 games of Bingo.

Like I said, go on Elvis Night and you won’t be disappointed.
