Man 1, Crocodile 1: Lessons Learned.

After hearing of about how a man was rescued from the clutches of a Crocodile’s jaw this past week in Australia I was relieved. Now that time has passed and I’ve had time to reflect I think there are lessons to be learned from this near disaster:

  1. Never except employment from a ‘Crocodile Farm‘.
  2. If you do find yourself employed by a Crocodile Farm make sure not to be responsible for collecting Crocodile eggs.
  3. Create a good working relationship with your coworkers (they’re the only who can help you if and when the giant reptile you decided to work with on a daily basis decides to eat you).
  4. Verify that your coworker has at least average marksmanship skills.

Lotus Notes Strikes Again.

As some of you know I have a complete and utter disdain for the Lotus Notes application which I firmly believe was coded by the hands of Satan. We’ll if you’ve been following the White House email scandal where allegedly there were millions of emails that have been lost during the run up to the Iraq invasion and through the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina you’ll be pleased to know the reason for this historical loss is due to my old nemesis: Lotus Notes.

White House spokes person Dana Perino when today asked about the missing emails:

From the White House spokes person Dana Perino when asked about the missing emails:

But there was a conversion sometime between 2002 and 2003 to convert people that were using Lotus Notes when we first arrived to Microsoft Outlook. And I know that the tech people worked to get us all transferred over. We had to save our Word documents and all to make sure that they weren’t lost in that transition.

I don’t have a specific number for you. Again, I wouldn’t rule out that there were a potential 5 million emails lost, but we’ll see if we can get to you. If it was 5 million, I think that, again, out of 1,700 people using email every day, again, there was no intent to have lost them.

She goes on to say that the White House was using Lotus Notes up until 2002; I’m not sure if this means the Clinton White House was also using Notes but it’s safe to assume. My point in all of this is I actually believe it. If there was ever a situation where you would loose 5 million emails Lotus Notes would be a major player. Hell, I personally lost at least a million using that patched together, secondhand piece of shit program. I wouldn’t be surprised if the engineers that developed Notes weren’t former NASA engineers because they both have a complete dedication to Wingin’ It.

Lotus Notes – Worst Program Ever.

The Georgia Bulldogs are a Regional Power.

After some extensive research this past week I have come up with some interesting facts regarding Georgia’s football program. This research was spawned by my total disdain for the SEC‘s complete lack of traveling outside of the South to play a football game. I don’t understand how a team from the SEC, particularly Georgia, can stake a claim to being one of the best teams in the country without every leaving their region. Historically SEC teams don’t play outside of the South but Georgia takes this even further. In their entire history Georgia has only played 34 regular season games and 1 bowl game outside of the South. Their last game played outside of the South was 43 years ago at Michigan. Let me say that again: 43 years ago.

The Last 5 times Georgia has played a regular season game outside the South:

  1. 1965 Georgia at Michigan
  2. 1960 Georgia at Southern California
  3. 1957 Georgia at Michigan
  4. 1953 Georgia at Villanova
  5. 1952 Georgia at Pennsylvania

How is this possible? From this point on I will refer to the Georgia Bulldogs as merely a ‘regional football power’.
