Thanksgiving 2011.

Yesterday we cooked our first meal in the new place which happened to be Thanksgiving. Like in years past (2009) we fried the turkey but this year we used my new Masterbuilt Indoor Electric Fryer.  The indoor fryer is by far an easier way to fry a turkey.  Same cooking time, less oil, equal amount of danger and I can’t stress this enough: dishwasher clean up.

The bird turned out great along with all the other food.  We also finally got around to trying a couple pies from Hoosier Mama Pie:  Apple and Hoosier Sugar Cream.

So we headed down to US Cellular Field for one last beating by the Yankees and they did not disappoint. These were actually the ‘better seats’ we bought during our seven game pack and it was not worth it. We were in section 149 and unless you had an isle seat or were in the first 10 rows you really had a hard time seeing the batter at home plate. It didn’t really matter as the Yankees won 7-2 and completed the series sweep of the White Sox.

After being on the road for a week it’s back to Chicago Baseball. Last night I witnessed the White Sox get blown out 10-2 by the Red Sox. The game started off quickly with no hits until the 4th inning and then it just blew apart with a series of home runs by the Red Sox. The White Sox began to rally in the 7th and 8th but the Red Sox just destroyed them with 5 runs in the top of the 9th inning.

IMG_0851.jpgAt Schaller's Pump -

**** Before the game Julie and I took an epic bus trip to Schaller’s Pump for a couple pregame drinks. We’ve tried once before to stop there but the bar doesn’t open until 4pm on Saturday’s which makes it a little bit difficult for a 6pm game. So we took the bus and it was worth the ride. Cans of beer run $2.75 nearly as cheap as a Lenten Fish Fry.
